Mirjam completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences and Master’s degree in Neuroscience & Cognition at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. For her Master’s research project, she joined the research group of Dr Teresa Niccoli in the UCL Institute of Healthy Ageing to work on the role of glucose metabolism in a Drosophila model of C9orf72-associated FTD and ALS. After briefly working as research technician in the lab of Prof. Adrian Isaacs, she is now doing her PhD in the Kinghorn lab, studying a GBA1-knockout Drosophila model of Gaucher and Parkinson’s Diseases
